On March 3rd, 1946 Daphne Lor. Griffiths was born to William and Mary Griffiths. She was one of nine sisters who grew up in Broadleaf Manchester, Jamaica.
Daphne attended Broadleaf Primary alongside her sisters. She later attended Ramble Vocational School where she excelled in her work as a seamstress.
Daphne was quite talented in creating, design and sewing.
Sister Daphne attended Beulah Apostolic Church in Jamaica where she gave her life to the Lord at 11 years old and received the Holy Ghost under the tutalage of Bishop Samuel Berry. Her favorite phrase is “My Soul Doth Magnify the Lord.” She delighted in serving the Lord and sharing his miracles and words with her family every chance she got. She loved attending church services and engaging with her church friends and family. She enjoyed her retail therapy she loved to shop for her beautiful dresses, suits, hats, handbags, and shoes. She prided herself in being a lady of the Lord who humbly served.
She met and married Neville Nelson in 1974, which produced three lovely children Jacqueline Cadien, Homer Nelson, and Dentlief Nelson.
Before migrating to the United States she was a member of the Bethel Born Again Church of Jesus Christ on Oakland Road. Under the leadership of Bishop Luther Martin Allison she became an Evangelist in the church. She later migrated with her family to the US where she worked in the retail industry for many years. She also became a member of the the Zion Temple Pentecostal Church under the pastoral leadership of Jasper Phillips and Charles Smith. She was proceeded in death by her parents William and Mary Griffiths, husband Neville Nelson, her sisters Lydia, Ethel, and Pearl.
Daphne leaves to carry on her legacy her children Jacqueline Cadien, Homer & Samantha Nelson, Dentlief & Devante Nelson, Lenius & Pauline Nelson, Annette Nelson, Byron Haywood, 12 grandchildren, and 7 great-grand. She is also survived by her sisters Girline Eccleston, Joyce Chance, Peggy Boone, Mavis Richards, and Petallyn Griffiths.
