Darlene Weaver Obituary

Darlene Yvonne Weaver was born on October 11, 1960, in Middletown, Ohio, to the late William and Lillian Weaver. She departed this life following a brief illness on April 27, 2023, at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia.

Darlene was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Middletown and St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Lithonia, Georgia. She was a member of the Trustee Board, Senior Usher Board, Advisor for the Junior Usher Board, Lay Organization and participated in YPD activities.

Darlene attended Middletown City Schools until the 7th grade. After moving to Dayton, Ohio, she attended Dayton Public Schools and graduated in 1979 from Meadowdale High School. While at Meadowdale, she was a member of the basketball teams.

Darlene loved to travel and experience new opportunities. As such, she moved to Dallas, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia. She was employed at Microsoft Corporation, Sprint/Nextel, Luxottica and United Parcel Service. As an executive assistant, she loved planning events, family reunions, making travel plans and organizing meetings. Because of her love for travel, she decided to become an independent travel agent and started her own travel business, Jreign Travel Agency. Unfortunately, she was only able to arrange a few trips before she was incapacitated by her illness.

To know Darlene was to love her! She was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, loved attending basketball, football, soccer games and track meets. She was the life of the party no matter the venue and loved being around people. Her can-do attitude, humor, infectious laugh,

beautiful smile, bubbling personality will be missed by her family and many friends. She was a bright light! She loved participating in the MHS Class of 1979 picnics, get-togethers and Christmas celebrations.

Her daughter, McKenna Renee and granddaughter, Journi Reign, were the loves of her life.

Darlene was loved by all who knew her. She loved dancing, karaoke and going to the beach. She was a reliable presence of strength, devotion, loved her family and was a loyal friend. Her loss will resonate for years to come in the lives of those who were honored to know her.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William Weaver, Jr.; sister, Pearl Kirkland; and nephew, LaMarr Williams, Jr.

Darlene leaves to cherish her memory: a loving daughter, McKenna Weaver; granddaughter, Journi Reign (Gannie’s Girl) Brown; two sisters, Regina Brooks and Paula (Ed) Everhart; special nephews and nieces, Birley (Ayanna) Johnson, Kimberly (Brandon) Lewis, LaToya (Christie) Cunningham, Brandi Everhart, Briana (Jimmy) Little, Kip Keno Briggs, Billy Weaver, Noah Weaver and Christina Weaver; great-nieces and nephews, greatgreat-nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and many, many special friends.
