Darrel Wiley. Sr. Obituary

Darrel Wiley Sr., affectionately known as Sarge or Deacon, entered eternal life peacefully on March 14, 2024. He was born on July 13, 1951, to the late Raymond Wiley and Lucille V. Toney in Cincinnati, OH at General Hospital. Darrel attended and graduated from Taft High School.

At 6 years old, Darrel started attending New Prospect Baptist Church with his grandmother, Della Matthews, which he attended until his teenage years. His first job was working at the Living Room Supper Club. He also worked on the Delta Queen River Boat. Darrel joined the United States Army in 1969 and served until 1972, where he served at Vietnam, Korea, and Germany. Two years later, he rejoined and served until 1992, where he retired as an Army E-7, Sergeant First Class. After retiring from the military, Darrel worked for the B & O Railroad Systems and then became an entrepreneur as an independent contractor.

Darrel moved to New Jersey in 2002 and became a member of Cooling Water COGIC under Elder Billie Oatman. During this time, Darrel was ordained as a Deacon, which he took extraordinary pride and let everyone know it every chance he got. Darrel moved back to Cincinnati and became a member of St. Mark Christian Fellowship COGIC under the leadership of Elders Gerald Bates and Dwayne Stanford.

In 2013 Darrel met the love of his life, Deborah, and they were married 3 years later. During this time, they shared many laughs, traveled, met friends, and took thousands of pictures! Darrel joined Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church in December, where Deborah is a member.

Darrel loved the Lord and was always praying for others, even during his sickness when others were trying to pray for him. He looked forward to playing cards with his family and friends and even enjoyed some trash talking every now and then. He loved to fish and could not wait to get out on the water every year; often bragging on the large fish he or his fellow fishermen caught.

Darrel was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Matthews.

Darrel leaves to cherish his precious memory: his loving wife, Deborah; sons: Darrel (Tamiko) and Donte, stepdaughter: Marquetta (Kevin) Aldridge; his beautiful grandchildren; brothers: Robert Matthews, Raymond and Michael Wiley; father and mother-in-law: Leroy and Maxcine Smith; Goddaughter: Fahtema Lewis; dear friend: Garry Cutright; a host of beloved nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
