DARRELL WAYNE MORTON was born November 10, 1962 in Goldsboro, North Carolina to the late Pauline and Harold Morton, Sr. Darrell attended Campbell Junior High School and Hughes High School. Darrell joined the U.S. Navy in 1982, where he traveled the world for 10 years seeing six continents and he received an Honorable Discharge in 1992. He received his degree in Communications, while in the Navy. After his discharge, his employment included Time Warner, U.S. Post Office and Metro PCS, until his health prevented him from working.
Darrell married Gloria Dennis in 2009, where they met at the U.S. Post Office (where they both worked) and from there is where their love blossomed. She was the love of his life. Gloria preceded him in death in 2021. Darrell was a very caring man who loved people and would help anyone he could. He never met a stranger and he was considered a gentle giant. Darrell loved to discuss varies topics and he could make you laugh and make you mad at the same time. He was just a good guy to so many people. Darrell is now resting peacefully with his true love Gloria. He loved everyone and always greeted you with I’m blessed by the best and highly favored. He appreciated his neighbors Ms. May and others who looked out for him and always shared a laugh and good conversation with them.
Darrell truly missed his niece, Whitney Harrison who preceded him in death on May 27, 2024.
He leaves to mourn: daughters, Phoenecia, Angel, Kale and Cheryl Simon; sons, Demetrius, Desi (Tammy) and Kenny (DeeDee); grandkids, Lamont Wilson, Fadila Sigmon, Kenneth Jr., Amani, Jeremy, Kennedy and Kyesa Wilson, Desmond Jr., Tammia, Devon Wilson, Taniyah, Avery, Breiana, Asia Wilson, Tristen Treyston and Braylon Wilson, Karmello, Daija and Demetrius Jr.; brothers-in-law, Louis Vicks (Shirley); sisters-in-law, Tiffany Mitchell and Stacey MacArthur (Matt); sisters, Thea Lewis (Reginald), Yolonda Knox and Marion Weber (Greg); brothers, Harold Morton, Jr. (Elizabeth) and Gregory Hall; his special cousin, Jacqueline Walton, who they shared a lifetime of conversations talking daily; special friends, JB and TJ; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
