Darren Carter Davenport was born August 20th, 1965 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Madeline (Davis) Davenport and the late Albert (Flutie) Davenport Sr. He Transitioned from this life April 5th, 2021.
He attended Mt. Healthy Freshman High school and high school where he played Varsity basketball for all four years while being a consistent starter. He was a standout player under coach Grunkemeyer and great teammate, graduating in 1984. He then furthered his basketball career at Northern Kentucky University for one year then transferring to Alcorn State University where he studied accounting.
Growing up Darren was a happy child that enjoyed the outdoors and sports, loving baseball, football, and basketball. He also enjoyed spending time at Gra-mamas house filled with generations of cousins and great food.
He enlisted in the US navy for 2 years then coming home to marry his beloved wife Sheila. Darren married Sheila (Bradford) Davenport on June 30th, 1993, the two were faithfully married for 28 years.
Darren fathered six children, Michael Cartier Davenport, Gabrielle Anais Sears- Davenport, Joshua Elijah Davenport, Naomi Rebekah Davenport, Jeremiah Obadiah Davenport, Deborah Keturah Davenport. Also being a father figure to his nephew Chris Davenport and a big brother to his niece Sherrice Davenport. Darren taught his children to keep God at the head of their lives and to have a strong work ethic in anything they decided to do in life. Not only did he enjoy coaching his 3 sons he loved going to all his children’s games and coaching from the sidelines. One of his passions was coaching AAU basketball, were he had a significant impact on many young men’s lives, after coaching he stayed on the court being a highly respected referee for many years. Darren worked for Lebanon correctional institution for five years and currently was working for the Tri Health system for eight years.
Darren Accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in 1992 at Bethlehem Temple Church under the late Bishop Johnson. He served as Bishop Johnson’s armor bearer for many years until the time of Bishop Johnsons demise. He loved the Lord God with all his heart and inspired to be a minister of the word of God.
Darren leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Madeline (Davis) Davenport, Sheryl Davenport, Felicia Davenport, Ingrid Davenport, his Six children, Sherrice Davenport, Austi Davenport, Michael Davenport, Jessie Davenport, Chris Davenport, Rocky Davenport, Trent Davenport, Sir Davenport, Noah Davenport, a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews, and many friends.
He was also proceeded in death by his father Albert “Flutie” Davenport Sr. and brother Albert “Petey” Davenport Jr.
