DARREN G. GENTRY, lovingly know to most as “Bubba” was born on July 16, 1963 in Cincinnati, OH to Warren Thomas Gentry and Edith Marie Smith. He peacefully entered rest on March 9, 2026.
Darren attended Purcell High School and went on to become a licensed Commercial HVAC Technician, proudly overseeing maintenance at Mt. St. Joseph Sisters of Charity for more than two decades. He also worked at Hyatt Regency for two decades, as well.
On January 3, 2014, he married his lifelong friend, Kimberly R. Gentry (nee Humphrey) in Covington, KY. Though their marriage came late in life, Darren and Kimberly had known each other since childhood.
Darren had a deep love for jazz and old school music, often DJ’ing special events on the weekends. Music, Kimberly and his friends were the joys of his life. He especially loved attending live music events, always dressed sharply and ready to enjoy every moment.
He was a gentle kind-hearted man who touched many lives and will be profoundly missed. Though Darren had no children, he leaves cherished memories with his wife, Kimberly R. Gentry (nee Humphrey), Gloria Jean (Bernard) Polk, Eileen (Dwight) Foxworth, Harrietta Hurdle, Daryl (Rosemary) Muhammad, Roger (Dawn) Ray and a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He now joins his parents, his sister, Angela, his brothers, Matthew, Joseph and Waren Jr. and many other loved ones. We take comfort knowing he is reunited with them in heaven, even as we deeply feel his absence here on earth.
