Darryl Anthony Railey was born on April 22, 1962 in Cincinnati, Ohio to James and Jessie Railey. He departed this life on August 20, 2021 at University of Cincinnati Hospital, at the age of 59. He was preceded in death by: his two sisters, Pamela Short and Donna Railey, and one son, Da’Marlo Railey.
Darryl received his education from Cincinnati Public Schools. He was raised in a musical background. He followed in his father’s footsteps singing and playing drums in bands, while also perfecting playing keyboards. You could see his face light up as he taught his grandchildren to play various instruments. Also known to be a Jack-of-all trades, he worked for M&M Metals, TK Builders, River City Glass, Walmart and CMHA Maintenance. He was the original handyman who knew how to make ends meet. He could put a shine on a car that would ensure a quick sale. As he grew older in life, he had a passion for gardening, showcasing his green thumb. Darryl was the family comedian who always brought laughter to the room and never met a stranger. He loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren. If you were part of his circle, he would go to great lengths to ensure you had what you wanted or needed.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: his wife, Marlo Paige Railey; seven children, Jahniah (Clifford), Hananiah, Ciara, Tiara, Hakeem, Tenisha and Marlo (Joseph); two godsons, D’Angelo and D’Marco; his parents, James and Jessie Railey; six siblings, Faith, James Jr., David, Marcia, Anthony and Cordero; 13 grandchildren; the Ruff family, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
