Delores Dean Smith was born on January 30, 1949 to the late Rushell and Bennie Lee Holiday, in Yazoo, Mississippi. After a long battle with kidney disease (green ribbon), among other illnesses, she departed this earthly life on October 27, 2025 at the age of 76.
Delores relocated to New Orleans as a child where she was raised and she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1969. In 1975, Delores relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio with her late sister, Rose Ann Williams. Not long after arriving in Cincinnati, she met and then married her late husband, Oliver Smith in 1978. They were married for 43 years when he passed on November 11, 2021, Veteran’s Day.
Delores accepted Christ at an early age. She loved going to church. She joined and was a long time member of Galilee Baptist Church. She would go every Sunday where she would sit in her honorary seat in back right by the door. Delores would get up out of her seat and dance when the choir was singing. Everyone knew her and remembered her for dancing. She stopped going to church after her health issues slowed her down and she did not feel like going. Delores is now dancing in Heaven with her loved ones.
Delores leaves to cherish her memory: a host of family and friends who loved her dearly and will miss her very much.
