Pamela Jean Bowers was born on July 9, 1963 to the late (Former) Presiding Bishop Paul A. Bowers and Dr. Elma Jean Lyons Bowers in Cincinnati, OH. She was the youngest of 3 daughters, Paula, Patricia and Pamela. Pamela graduated from Woodward High School where she served as Senior Class President and attended the University of Cincinnati.
Pamela received the Holy Ghost as a young girl during a Watch Night Service and then was baptized in the precious Name of Jesus Christ. Her mother began sending her to piano lessons while also training her to play the organ and piano at home. Pamela listened to her piano teacher play the songs and she memorized them, and then began to play them by “ear”! She later played the saxophone in her Jr. High and High School Band. She became an outstanding and accomplished organist and saxophonist.
Pamela served Greater Emanuel Apostolic Temple, under the pastorate of her father, Presiding Bishop Paul A. Bowers for many years as Musician, Band Director, Director and Founder of the Voices of Praise, Assistant Women’s Choir Minister of Music, Elma Jean Bowers Grande’ Reception Hall Director, and was the Conductor and Founder of the GEAT Orchestra, Teacher, Minister in the Ministerial Alliance, and Director of the House of Love for Adults who needed additional support. Pamela worked with the ensemble “Messengers for Christ”, which was comprised of talented young men of the Ministry. She was a mentor and example to many of the young people. Her support and words of encouragement will be treasured by many.
Pamela was called to the Ministry in the late 80s and began studying, attending Bible Institutes, preaching and teaching throughout the country and abroad. She relocated to Detroit, Michigan and founded a youth choir at Apostolic Faith Temple, Detroit, MI under the pastorate of the late Bishop Nemiah Smith. She also attended and served faithfully at Bethel Apostolic Church under the pastorate of the late Suffragan Bishop Robert Young where she served as Secretary and Minister of Music. She also served as the Northern District Council Minister of Music for 2 years.
Evangelist Pamela Bowers, relocated back to Cincinnati in the late 90s and was employed as a Hospice Chaplain for Crossroads Hospice. She again served Greater Emanuel Apostolic Temple in the Music, Preaching, and Food Service Ministries.
In 2003, the Lord began to deal with Evangelist Pamela J. Bowers regarding people who were gifted but living in a state of un-actualized potential. She saw men and women, young and old, who were chosen by God, full of talents and gifts, but frustrated and unfulfilled. This led her to the Book of Jeremiah and, there, God revealed the word “Remnant”! When others think of Remnant, they picture leftovers, those left behind, or scraps. Instead, she received the revelation of a gem in the rough who needs the “nurturing rub”. She began to solidify The Remnant Vision in 2007 by forming a community development corporation in Cincinnati. As a Visionary, she wanted this to be a family preservation center to include various programs such as a GED program, mentoring, adult and child daycare, and an academy, just to name a few. Ordained as an Evangelist by the Ohio District Council, Pamela Bowers was a well sought after evangelist and teacher. She taught in the Greater Emanuel Bible Institute and those courses eventually grew into Sunday afternoon and Thursday evening Bible Study sessions entitled “Power to Become”. From those gatherings, The Emanuel Church of the Remnant Ministries (ECOR) was established. But, in 2008, Evangelist Bowers became aware of the larger vision and was led to expand God’s vision into Central Florida. In November 2009, she was asked to pastor a church and relocated to Orlando, Florida area. Ambassador for Christ Family Worship Center “The Church of Remnant Believers” had its first service on Sunday, December 6, 2009. The ministry quickly flourished outreaching to the community, hosting Passover and Easter services, a college ministry on the nearby university campuses, food and clothing giveaways, ministerial training, live and virtual teaching and prayer sessions, marriage counseling, weddings, sick and shut-in ministry, bereavement support, praise dancing ministry, repairer of the breach in Jewish/Christian relations, revivals, philanthropic events, and even baptisms utilizing the various bodies of water.
Led fully by the Lord, Pastor Bowers along with the congregation felt a rebirthing of the original mission written in Jeremiah 23:3. May 2011, The Emanuel Church of the Remnant Ministries (affectionally known as simply Remnant Ministries) was reborn. Under the parent entity, The Remnant Unleashed, God directed Pastor Bowers in fulfilling the original vision of restoring the heart by ridding the nations of desolation and displaying hope through the true “Ministry of Jesus”. Pastor Pamela Bowers was elevated to the office of District Elder, under the leadership of Bishop Billy Newton, Diocesan of the Florida District Council.
District Elder Pamela Bowers was blessed to minister for many years at New Testament Church, pastored by the late Dr. Winford Nunes who faithfully pastored NTT for 30 years. In September of 2018 Dr. Nunes made the decision to retire, entrusting the congregation to District Elder Pamela J. Bowers to continue serving. Pastor Bowers began her service at NTT in 2018 and continued until 2024. Pastor Pamela Bowers-Mitchell was deeply devoted to the saints and passionately dedicated to advancing the Kingdom of God. She relentlessly made herself available by traveling back and forth to Connecticut from Florida to preach the Word and to make sure that the needs of both congregations were met. As Director of the Sunday School, Pastor Bowers-Mitchell seamlessly blended both churches during Covid by hosting virtual lessons via Zoom. During her tenure, the NTT Food Pantry was established to service the congregation and the community of Bloomfield and the Greater Hartford area.
Additionally in August of 2019, she instituted the first Annual Community Day inviting residents and surrounding communities. This event included their sister church in Florida with a day filled with fun activities, food and fellowship. Pastor Pamela J. Bowers-Mitchell has gifted us with a legacy of love, invaluable teachings and fond memories that we will always cherish. Love Lives Here!
District Elder Pamela Bowers was introduced to Deacon Mark Mitchell by Dr. Winford Nunes, who was his spiritual mother. Dr. Nunes served as the President of the International Missionary and Christian Women’s Auxiliary., and always spoke about Pamela’s Ministry. Deacon Mitchel would ask “Well, who is Pamela Bowers?” District Elder Nunes would reply, “She is the daughter of Bishop Bowers” and they would laugh. He met Pamela at a PAW Convention as she and Bishop Bowers were coming out of service. They stopped, talked and took a photo. When Pamela would come to Connecticut to preach, Deacon Mitchell would provide her transportation to the church, hotel and airport, and even take her to dinner. After spending much time together, Deacon Mitchell travelled to Cincinnati to ask Bishop Bowers permission for his “baby girl’s” hand in marriage and he gave him his approval and blessed the rings that Deacon Mitchell brought with him. They were engaged in 2018 and were united in Holy Matrimony on March 2, 2019. Deacon Mitchell is truly grateful for the time and love that the Lord has blessed them with!
