Dollie Lenora (Blackwell) Straughn passed away peacefully in her home on March 9, 2026, in Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 73. She had a passion for Jesus, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who was known for her kindness and love of family.
Born on June 24, 1952, at General Hospital (now the University of Cincinnati Medical Center), Dollie was the daughter of Annabelle and Clinton Anderson. She was raised in Walnut Hills by her beloved Aunt Ethel Powell. She attended Samuel Ach Junior High before graduating from Withrow High School with the Class of 1971.
Dollie first married James Runyon, and together they welcomed two children, James Maurice Runyon and the late Jacqueline Annette (Runyon) Way. In 1982, Dollie met the love of her life, Allan Straughn. Their bond grew into a lifelong partnership, and they were united in marriage in December 2001 at Jerriel Missionary Baptist Church, where Dollie was a member.
Dollie was a hard worker and often held multiple jobs at once. Before Dollie was married with children, she worked in dietary at Oak Pavilion. She continued in her career at Bridgeway Pointe. The residents have always loved having Dollie serve them because she always greeted them with a smile and never complained. She was truly dedicated to helping the residents and enjoyed many conversations with them.
Outside of work, Dollie enjoyed spending time with her family, caring for her home, and sharing meals and stories with those she loved. She loved jewelry and purses, and she had a laugh that was unmistakably her own — a sound her loved ones will never forget. She will be remembered for her warm heart and generous spirit.
Dollie leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Allan; her son, Maurice (Leah); her brother, Albert; and her sister, Deborah. She is also survived by her grandchildren—Asadullah, Qamar, and Maura—and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Harold “Bubba” (Carolyn), Grace Ann (Chief), Eulus, and Ethel “Baji”; her daughter, Jacqueline Way; her granddaughter, Aishia Way; and her mother-in-law, Ms. Ida Stevenson.
