Dora Whaley Harris was born January 25, 1939 to James and Fannie Whaley of Williamson, West Virginia. As a child she liked to sit under her mother and learned how to cook at an early age. She attended Liberty Elementary and Liberty High School class of 1957, where she was a majorette, cheerleader and a member of the drama club. She loved to sing, dance and act in numerous stage plays. In 1955, she married Curtis Alvin Welch Sr., to this union was born six children. Curtis Alvin Welch Jr. (Sharon), Kathy Diane Welch, Carmel Renee Welch (Donald), Pamela Michelle Walker (Duane), Steven Cornell Welch (Bobbie), Nicole Chree Welch (preceded in death), and Randy Gamble. She was baptized in Jesus name in 1954 and received the gift of the Holy Ghost under D.R. Perkins (Uncle Doc). In 1958, the family packed up and moved to Cincinnati, OH. She attended Bethlehem Temple Apostolic church under the leadership of the late Bishop E. W. Young. Every month she would make cakes for the Sunday School class. She was employed at Walgreens and at Shillito’s as a window designer. She later married George Ollie Harris in 1973 whom preceded her in death. She leave to treasure her legacy, twelve precious grandchildren; Sam Walker (Sara), Mark Welch (Brittany), Duan Walker (Teresa), Reginald Welch (Shauntia), Ashley Welch, Ebony Shippy (David), Curtis Welch III (preceded in death), Brittany Welch, Courtney Satterwhite (Cameron), Steven Welch II (Cori), Paris Cooper (Jacquekeem), Chelsea Welch and 21 Great-Grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory brothers Alonzo Whaley (preceded in death), Andrew Whaley (Mattie), and her one and only Baby Sister Connie Bass and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends and her special cousins Mary Olden and Dora Jean Miller.
