Born on June 12, 1959, in Jamaica-Queens, New York to the late David L. Bellamy and Dorothy M. Jacobs, Doris was the third of ten daughters. She cherished her sisters deeply and remained a loyal protector and guide to them throughout her life.
Her family later settled in Newark, New Jersey, where Doris came of age. She attended Barringer High School and soon after entered the workforce. A natural-born leader and nurturer, Doris stood tall as a matriarchal figure—second only to her beloved mother. Charged by her father with watching over her younger sisters, she took that responsibility to heart, ensuring they never lacked for anything.
Doris would go on to raise her own family with pride and determination. After welcoming her eldest children, Ryshone Jacobs, Sr. and Alif Bellamy into the world, she met the love of her life, Tyrone R. Walker Jr. Together they built a strong and loving home, blending families and welcoming children-in-love DiAndre Arrington, Malik Nelson, and Monique Dawson and eventually their own: Shakee Bellamy, Omar Walker, Shakeena Bellamy, and Ihsan Walker.
In March 2005, Doris made a bold and faithful decision: to relocate from Newark to Cincinnati, Ohio, in pursuit of what she called “a better life for her family.” True to her nature, she brought along loved ones in her care—her nephews Bahaudin Jacobs, Lamar Jacobs, and later, Stefone Bellamy (deceased).
She and Tyrone enrolled their children in local schools, encouraged them in sports and music, and faithfully raised them in the church at Word of Victory International, under the leadership of Pastors Oswald and Gloria Campbell. Doris loved her family more than anything in the world. She saw the best in people and never hesitated to call it out in them. A strong woman of faith and fervent prayer, Doris carried the weight of the world with grace, rooted in the knowledge that God was with her every step of the way. She stood tall on the foundation laid by her parents and fulfilled her assignment with courage, faith, and unwavering love.
On July 5, 2025, Doris entered eternal rest at Hospice of Cincinnati at The Christ Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her father, David L. Bellamy; her mother, Dorothy M. Jacobs; her sisters Kimberly R. Bellamy, Clara E. Bellamy, Donna E. Bellamy, Rosalind Bellamy, and Michelle D. Bellamy; her beloved aunts, Carrie Bellamy, Pearlie Chestnut, and Caroline Jacobs; and her uncles, George Bellamy and Wilbert Jacobs.
She leaves to celebrate her extraordinary life and legacy: her devoted husband, Tyrone R. Walker Jr.; her six (6) children, Ryshone Jacobs Sr., Alif Bellamy, Shakee Bellamy (DaNeilya Bellamy), Omar Walker, Shakeena Bellamy, and Ihsan Walker (Joy Walker); nine (9) cherished grandchildren, Teara Jenkinson, Ryshone Jacobs Jr., Ryonne Jacobs, Ra’yah Jacobs, Isaiah Kelly, Layla Ingram, Lyla Ingram, A’myla Boseman, and soontoarrive Anais Walker; seven (7) great-grandchildren Lashawn Black, Emori Henderson, Emier Henderson, Myonne Jacobs, Ty’shone Reese, Ra’mira Aweys, and Treasure Jacobs; her four (4) beloved sisters, Barbara Bellamy (Ronald Walker), Tara Bellamy, Danean N. Eme (Aloysius C. Eme), and Sadiqua Bellamy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and lifelong friends.
