Doris Mattress

Mrs. Doris Mattress was born on September 10, 1932 in Wake County, Raleigh, North Carolina to Bessie Hinanet. She was raised by her beloved Aunt Julia. Doris departed her earthly life on December 7, 2024. She joins her beloved departed, husband Fred Sr. and her sons Stanley and Lewis and her great-granddaughter Denim.

Mrs. Doris was such a bright and beautiful soul who loved shopping, dressing up, decorating, and was an amazing caregiver to her loved ones. She was a very funny and creative person who loved putting together parties for her ladies social group, the Jet Setters, along with her husband, Fred, who was a part of a motorcycle club, the Rolling Hawks. Doris worked in hospitality at the Holiday Inn in Sharonville and eventually went on to the Westin Hotel where she later retired after over 20 years of loyal service. After retirement, Doris went on to helped at Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church with the Hospitality Committee where she helped with funerals and cooking. Her grandchildren loved her cooking, especially in her pies!

To Cherish her memory, Doris leaves behind her children, Deborah Bryant and Fred Jr, honorary daughter Susie Lewis, daughter-in-law, Laverne, Bryant, sister-in-law Francis Spears and best friend Nina Lipscomb. She also left behind five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and fifteen great-great grandchildren along with the host of nieces, nephews and beloved friends and family.
