Dorothy Jean Williams

A woman with a heart of gold. She fed her neighbors and cherished her friends. A woman whose family meant the world to her. She captivated people with her presence and was the heartbeat of the Whitehead family.

Dorothy Jean Williams was born on June 29, 1944 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, to the late Enoch Knights, Jr. and Mattie Bell Williams. Dorothy departed this life on June 12, 2026. She was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Whitehead.

Dorothy, affectionately known by her family and friends as “Dot”, was a true matriarch. She was small, but mighty. Dot was the oldest of eight children (a job which she took very seriously). She was a fierce protector of her family and friends.

Dot is survived by: her children, Annette Memarian and Johnny L. Williams; one grandchild, Marquis Williams (Sylvia); three great-grandchildren, Mia, Marcelo and Mikayla Williams; and six siblings, Roy Whitehead, Jr. (Sandra), Patricia Whitehead, Ricky Whitehead, Laverne Hickman, Zola Wolfork and Beverly Whitehead. She also leaves to cherish her, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and lifelong friends.
