Dwayne Jermaine Plair was born on March 13, 1977 on Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, FL. He was a loving father to three beautiful girls, Lamesha, Meya and Deja, along with three granddaughters, Amiyah, Taiya and Mila. Dwayne is the youngest of two sons and is also survived by his mother, Michelle Plair; older brother, Gregory Plair, Jr.; grandmother, Bertha Holder; nieces, Shawnice and Ashley; nephew, DiAndre; and great-nephew, Jacxon. His father, Gregory Plair, Sr. preceded him in death from cancer at the tender age of 45.
Dwayne was a quiet soul who never seemed to get rattled by the everyday trials of this world. He was kind, gentle, funny, very mild mannered and just a great man in general.
Dwayne started singing at five years old and never looked back. And BOY could he sing.
He really came into his own when he started attending The School for the Creative and Performing Arts where he performed at the highest levels in Chorale and Music Theatre. At SCPA, he helped form the R&B group UNI-C with lifelong friends, David Lang, Mark English and Corey Draper. Together, they became a force performing, songwriting and producing original music with success at venues such as Showtime at the Apollo, multiple talent competitions and opening acts for groups such as Dru Hill, Playa and David Banner, just to name a few. Dwayne and his group developed into a very well-known and admired staple of the Cincinnati community.
As Dwayne grew in life, he had continued success with groups such as MoodSwing and The Ingrid Rachel Project, and co-founded the band, Deuces Musik. Dwayne continued to write songs and again realized his dream of being a successful music artist with his band, PLAIR and Friends performing with national acts such as Bobby V.
Dwayne also known as “DJ” is well loved and cherished by too many people to count. His heavenly voice and incredible songwriting touched the hearts of thou-sands throughout the 43 years of his life, and will be added amongst the clouds with the best to ever do it. His love for music, his heart of gold and voice of an angel will forever live in those who had the honor of being in his presence.
