Earl Jones, Sr. Obituary

Earl Jones Sr. was born March 28, 1949, to William Jones Sr. and Geneva Jones in Cincinnati, Ohio. Earl was the fifth of thirteen children and shared a special bond with his twin sister Earline. He was called home to eternal rest of March 29, 2025.

At a young age, he displayed many athletic talents from running to tumbling. He was a gifted gymnast and was known for his tumbling ability. Earl was a proud graduate of Taft High School (class of 1968) and matriculated at the University of Cincinnati to study Business thereafter. Prior to completing his studies, he began working at Monsanto in Addison, Ohio and would remain there until his retirement.

Earl had many hobbies and interests that he shared with others. He loved photography and had an extensive collection of cameras. As we began looking through pictures, we realized that Earl was not in many pictures because he was the one behind the camera. Family and friends often spent time viewing the many photo albums he put together displaying the pictures he took. In addition to photography, he loved music. He had an extensive album collection that covered multiple genres. He also maintained his turntables so he could listen to them. Once he knew his children were interested in music and singing, he would buy all kinds of equipment to help them hone their singing skills.

Earl married the love of his life, Bonnie, on Jume 30, 1978. They shared a love of life, family, friends, and travel. Earl was many things to many people, but to his family he was simply amazing.  He LOVED us all unconditionally and would give anything to make sure all our needs were met. He put all three of his children and wife through college, and supported his wife through every new endeavor, and encouraged his grandchildren through all academic efforts and sports activities.

While Earl meant so much to so many people, his greatest mission was that of a servant. Earl became a member of Greater Liberty Baptist Church and served in many capacities. He sang in the Bells of Liberty Gospel Chorus, Mass Choir, the Male Chorus, and chair of the Deacon board.

Earl served as chair until he was awarded Deacon Emeritus status. Earl mentored, counseled, and shared the Gospel with many, especially some of the young men of the church. He felt it was more important to let the world see Christ in you through your works.

His love for family and people combined with his engaging personality was very endearing to all he met. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone about a variety of topic (including his beloved Bengals), but he loved talking about God.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, so Earl jr. (Chris) and siblings: Earline, Ronnie, Bobby, Nicholas, and Marcus. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 46 years, Bonnie; son Cory Brown and daughter Jennifer (Brandon) Riggins; grandchildren Andrew and Lauren Riggins; sisters Dorothy Spell, Doris, Patricia, Elizabeth, and Jaqueline Jones brothers William Jones Jr. (Carolyn) and Kenneth Jones Sr.; Uncle Hank Johnson; sister-in-law Gladys Maxberry, Doris Hickman, Debra Evans, and Andretta Jones; brothers-in-law Alexander Evans and Silas Evans; bonus daughter Latisha Spurlock (Nick). He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends. Earl was a special part of our lives, and his family will miss him dearly, but we know that he is free of pain. Though we loved him very much, God loved him best and called him home to eternal rest.
