Ed Gordon, Jr., affectionately known to family and friends as “Eddie”, was born on March 3, 1930 in Meridian, Mississippi.
In Eddie’s early years, he relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio with his parents, Ed and Tennie Gordon.
After graduating from Woodward High School, he furthered his education in the area of professional masonry. Because he had developed such a thorough understanding of structures and architecture, he decided to apprentice in cement masonry. There, he was recognized as one of two people with the highest IQ’s in the class.
His skills in masonry, offered him the opportunity to live all over the United States, including New York where he worked on the Metlife Building on Park Avenue. Eddie also lived in New Haven, Connecticut where he worked on a building on the campus of Yale University. Locally, he worked on a building at Tri Health in Montgomery, Ohio and U.C. Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He also worked on different structures in Michigan.
After uniting with The Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Eddie met and married Corinne W. Berry. He served on the Hospitality Committee and the Senior Usher Board. Eddie also held a membership with the Queen City Whist Association.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Corinne W. Berry Gordon; a daughter, Edwina Gordon; stepsons, Lamar Berry, Jr., Keith Berry and Reginald Berry; a sister, Christine Hill; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends
