Edgar Alan Williams was born on the 4th of July, 1955, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Jack Clyde and Willa Dean Williams. Edgar entered eternity and joined the heavenly host on August 28, 2023.
Edgar completed most of his education in Cincinnati Public Schools and graduated from Pershing High School in Detroit, Michigan and Hughes High School. He later furthered his education earning an Associate’s Degree in Business and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from Xavier University. He was married to Evie Caver on January 6, 2007 and remained committed to honoring their vows until the Lord called him home.
Edgar served in the United States Marine Corps from 1973 to 1977 as a 3531 Motor Vehicle Operator where he distinguished himself and became the Commanding Officer Driver. After earning an honorable discharge, he went on to serve in the Ohio Army National Guard. He worked at General Electric Aviation Division for 38 years, 6 months in the tool crab. He also was a bargaining agent, representing United Auto Workers Union members, as well as a committeeman on several committees.
Edgar was a sportsman who enjoyed football, basketball and loved playing baseball. He had lots of fun traveling with his wife and especially enjoyed traveling to Aruba. He loved fine cars, fine clothes and fine shoes. He enjoyed shopping for suits and would frequently buy suits, clothing and jewelry for his brothers, evident of his generous heart. He enjoyed life and laughter and was a master of jokes. His sense of humor was off the chain and he would liven the atmosphere with clever, witty jokes that we all come to enjoy and expect whenever he was around.
Edgar loved his church and accomplishing kingdom work. He served on the Deacon Board at Second Trinity Baptist Church and he made himself available to support his pastor, as well as the church’s mission and goals. He was a student of the Bible and well learned in the scriptures. He also participated in ministering to the sick and shut-in as part of programming within General Electric.
Edgar was preceded in death by his father, Jack Clyde Williams; mother, Willa Dean Williams; brother, Willie Clyde Williams; and sister, Ernestine Williams.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his wife, Evie Williams; son, Eric Caver; grand-daughter, Takeela Williams; siblings, Dorothy Hallums, Carolyn Williams, Larry Williams (Blondie) and Stanley Williams (Carmella); aunts, uncles and a host of nieces, nephews and best friends.
