Edward H. Anderson Obituary

Deacon Edward Herbert Anderson, also known as “Mr. Andy”, “Eddie”, Daddy, and Grandpa was born on December 7th, 1936 in Nonsuch, Portland, Jamaica, West Indies, to Casilda and Wesley Anderson.

Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife Kathleen June Lowe in 1990 after 30 years of marriage.

Edward received his education at Merle Grove High School, Ivy Road Kingston, Jamaica May 1955.

From 1954 to 1958 he worked at Higgs and Hills Ltd. Construction Company. From 1961 to 1969 he worked at Kaiser Bauxite and Aluminum Co. in St. Ann, Jamaica, West Indies. He performed Diesel mechanic-Journeyman duties rebuilding engines on large trucks such as Dart and Euclid doing welding, and heavy vehicle maintenance. During that time, he also worked at Yellow Cab where he excelled in his trade and performed at the highest level.

In October 1969 he migrated to the United States, where he worked for International Harvester in Cincinnati. Eddie worked as the “go to” mechanic when working on Detroit diesel and Caterpillar engines. Eddie was an outstanding employee and dedicated worker until the plant closed in 1982. Eddie enjoyed working with his hands and truly loved gardening.  He loved going to Milford to work in his garden with his dear friends, and fellow gardeners. He was always a good neighbor and helpful man. If there was any way he could help someone, he did. Truly his living was not in vain. He also enjoyed watching sports on TV and going to tennis matches with his sister-in-Law Lorna Lowe and when they couldn’t go, he would watch on TV. Edward was a very mild-mannered kind of a guy, humble and wise.

Edward was a loyal and active member of Miami Baptist Church in Milford Ohio since his arrival in the United States in 1969. He served on the Deacon Board for many years until his health began to fail. Edward has always been a strong devout believer in God. His Bible knowledge was outstanding and he had very strong convictions about living a righteous life and giving glory to God.

Edward was also preceded in death by his parents, his brother Desburn “Busta” Anderson and other dear Elders of his family.

He is survived by his six Children, Edward Jr (Yolanda), Karen “Kay”, Ephil, Ainsley “Billy”, Alecia “Liz”, Melaney Anderson & twenty grand-children and eleven great grand-grand- children. His brother Mike Anderson of Brooklyn New York and His sister Delrose Solomon of Canada. Also His Mother in Law Josephine Lowe; 103 yrs old, of Kingston Jamaica.

He also leaves a host of family, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and very special friends in Nonsuch, Jamaica and here in the States. He will be greatly missed.

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
