Emily “Tobie” Moore was born on November 11, 1943, in Cincinnati, OH to Pauline Powell and Alonzo Jones. On Wednesday, October 23, 2024 Emily was called home by God, peacefully led into rest and eternal peace.
Tobie was preceded in death by her parents; grand-mother, Alva Jacobs; son, Leonard Carmichael; sisters, Deborah Powell and Paula Johnson; brother, Cedric Powell; and great-niece, Monet Scribbin.
She attended Our Lady of the Angels High School, where she was a member of the Senior Chorus and received her diploma in 1961.
Tobie was a member of Greater Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church, which she loved and was baptized in 1974. She was a member of the Inspirational Choir. She was over the youth groups including the Youth Voices, Junior Male Chorus and Youth Usher Board. She also created the church bulletins, programs, corsages and was the Church decorator for all services.
Tobie loved her family and having family get togethers. Her hobbies were sewing and doing arts & crafts. She created the family calendars yearly and every birthday or special milestone in your life, she had a homemade card ready to give you. She was always willing to help with any task. She loved Gospel music and you could catch her singing one of her favorite songs around the house at any given moment.
She will be missed by all and mourned by: her loving children, Lateefah Nashid (Ilyas), Renata Beal, Sur Carmichael (LaKisha) and Tamara “T.T.” Taylor (Chantel); baby sister, Natalie Todd (Dane); grand-children, Lashanta, Anthony, Leonard, Aric, Ibraheem, Aubreanna, Suriyah, Sur (Sharde), Muslimah, Firdaws, Tajae, Shamsudeem, Christopher, Raina and Seth Mister-Nasir; great-grandchildren, Donny, Na’eem, Nylah, Aaliyah, Amir, Amari, Ashanti, Ashiyah, Jream, Ibraheem Jr., Sabria, Amali, Zeenah, Giovanni, Alani, Aric Jr., Gia, T.J., LeAreon, Keith, Giovanni, Keondre, Royalty, Khloe, Deonna, Surinity, Shanyla, Lemontae, Ronnie and Stephon; nieces and nephews, Rodney (Joannie), Felicia (Randy), Shawn, Tracie, Jarreau, Rasta, Cedric Jr., Natasha and Herschel ll; daughter-in-law, Racine Carmichael; sister-in-law, Yolanda Powell; special friend, Mary Houston; the members of Greater Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church and close friends of the family.
