Eric Lamont Standifer, Sr. aka “Monty” was born on September 7, 1951 in Lockland, Ohio to the late and great, James Curtis, Sr. and Velma Jean Standifer. On Friday, December 25, 2020, God called him home at 7:30 p.m.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Curtis-Babatunde Dumisa Akiwole and Charles Baron; as well as two nieces, Sheena and Sylvon Peeples; brothers-in-law, Jimmy McNeil and Robert Anderson; father-in-law and motherin-law, John and Edna Black; and one grandson, DeAngelo.
Eric met the love of his life, Linda on October 1, 1977 and they were united in holy matrimony on March 22, 1985.
Eric became a devoted Christian who truly loved the Lord. He joined New Vision United Methodist Church and became a dedicated servant. Eric once served on the Board of Trustees, Usher Board and was the church custodian.
Eric attended the Cincinnati Public School System, but his carpentry and mechanical skills and talents inspired him to co-own the M&M Remodeling and Restore Company.
Eric leaves to cherish his life and spirit, his loving and caring wife, Linda D. Black-Standifer.
He is survived by five sons, Lavell Zachary, Quincy D. Black, Sr., Eric L. Standifer, Jr. (Brandy), Robert J. Black, Sr. and Che’ K. Standifer; two daughters, Ebony Harkness-Darden (Timothy) and Megan Standifer; 21 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Michele Standifer Anderson (Robert-deceased) and Carmen Riddle (Marsiel); two brothers, Mark Standifer (Tracie) and Andre’ Standifer (Donna); and in-laws, The Black Family.
Eric also leaves to cherish his memory, best friends, James McKibben, Michael Montgomery, Sr., Maurice Hayes and Anthony Perkins; Bengal debaters, Derrick Hillman, Demetrius Jones, Robert Daniels, “Shine On Me” and Darryl Madaris; Gal Pals, his beloved sisters-inlaw, Wanda Black-Montgomery, Tracie Larry and Francesa Standifer; sisters-in-Christ, Vicki Surrell, Karen Rucker, Cheryl Armstrong and Sibble Standifer; brothers-in-Christ, Ramon Tubbs and Jay Dorsey; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
