Ernest Eugene Mitchell, 76, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, surrounded by love. Born in Bedford, Ohio, on January 14, 1949, he was adopted at 15 months old by Pauline and Ernest Mitchell Sr., who raised him with devotion and care.
Ernest grew up in Madisonville, Ohio, attending Madisonville Elementary before graduating from Withrow High School in 1968. Soon after, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country with honor from 1968 to 1971. His time in the service reflected the values he carried throughout his life—commitment, courage, and a deep sense of responsibility.
To those who knew him, Ernest was more than his accomplishments. He was a proud son, a devoted father, and a loyal friend. He had a generous spirit, a quick wit, and a way of making everyone feel seen and valued. Whether sharing a story from his Army days, offering guidance, or simply enjoying time with loved ones, Ernest left an imprint on the hearts of all who met him.
Ernest is survived by his daughter, Anunaee Jackson; his grandchildren, Alina Davis, Akiylah Davis, Raiden Davis, Raimere Crumpley, and Rahim Jackson; and his five stepchildren, Nakia Jackson, Tikwan Jackson, Mildred Brown, Anita Brown, and Rhonda Woods. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pauline Mitchell and Ernest Mitchell Sr., and his grandson, Rahveah Jackson.
His life was a testament to love, perseverance, and faith—and his memory will forever be cherished by those who were blessed to know him.
