Etta May Williams Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Etta May Williams, born on June 6, 1933 in St. Ann Jamaica. She was the oldest child of the union of Mrs. Ilda Fletcher and Mr. Ramsey Fletcher.

She graduated from Annatto Bay High School and went on to pursue a degree in Education from Moneague Teacher’s College, where she taught general studies for many years. She spent many years devoted to helping those in her community, family and friends.

She had many passions in life, including the love of singing, reading, teaching, gardening, baking, cooking and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In 1996, she joined Southern Baptist Church and was on the Nurse Guild. Her talents and creativity were admired by all who knew her.

She peacefully departed this life at home on December 4, 2024 at 6:30 a.m. She was lovingly and patiently cared for by her siblings. She leaves behind: one son, Anthony George Sibley; four siblings, Pearl, Greata, Ghee and Veleta; four grandchildren, Corey, Wayne, Kamillia and Charles; five great-grandchildren, Kahlala, Kevin, Cameron, Britney and Jaceon.

Etta May Williams will be remembered as a cherished mother, grandmother, teacher and friend. Her impact on her family, students and community is a lasting testament to a life well lived. May her memory be a blessing.
