Frederick Nathaniel Harris was born Friday, March 8, 1940, in Covington, Kentucky to the late Nathaniel A. Harris and Laura Katherine (Hughes) Harris. He was the first born of five children, one whom preceded him in death. At the age of 83, Fred departed this life on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at 11:25 a.m.
Frederick graduated from Hughes High School, Cincinnati, Ohio in 1957. He honorably served his country through service in the United States Navy, worked for the United States Post Office, provided diplomatic service for the U.S. State Department, and fulfilled assignments across the world for the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, receiving one of the highest Intelligence Commendation Medals for superior performance. In his service to the country, he and his family resided both nationally and internationally in Greece, Philippines, and Liberia.
Fred’s hobbies included cooking, photography, fishing, and traveling, building computers and computing. His love of photography earned him the first-place photography award from the Provident Camera Shop Tamron Cincinnati Zoo in 2008.
Frederick was a Christian man of integrity, a faithful husband, loving father, and provider for his family. He met and married Gloria Jean Warner in 1963. To their loving union were born two daughters. He was a member of the former Ninth Street United Methodist Church in Covington, Kentucky, and attended the Community Church of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Fred leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Gloria Jean, two daughters, Kathi Ann Harris, Dr. Kimberly Harris Lewis, one granddaughter, Nina Raquel Lewis, 2 brothers, Kendall Harris (Treasa), Michael Harris, one sister, Brenda Harris, in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and friends.
