Gary Lawrence Waldon

Gary Lawrence Waldon was born April 29, 1953, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Olivia and the late Willie Lawrence Waldon. He accepted Christ at a young age, and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Evanston.

Affectionately known as "Waldo" to his close friends, he was known for his larger-than-life personality, infectious sense of humor, and an amazing singing voice. He was a true music lover, a trait he passed down to his children.

After graduating from Aiken High School in 1971, he served in the U.S. Navy for four years, where he got to travel and be near the water, which he loved. Gary was a dedicated family man. Anyone who knew him knew that he was crazy about his family. He loved his WIFE and took great joy in being a father and grandfather. His stepson, Aaron, preceded him in death. 

Two places that always held a special place in his heart were Jerriel Baptist Church, where he served in the choir and built a strong community of family and friends, and Christ Emmanuel Christian Fellowship, where he also served in the choir and grew his faith, worship and the word of God.

Gary was called home to be with the Lord on his birthday, April 29, 2018. He leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy of love: his loving, devoted wife of 27 years, Robin; daughters Tiffany and Tamara (James), his son, Isaiah ("Baby Boy"), granddaughters Tobyn and Sloane; his beloved mother, Olivia Waldon, big sister Brenda and brother-in-law, Caleb "Beetle" McClinton, younger brother Gregory (Sylvia), mother and father-in-law, Otta and Marshall LaNier, his best friend of over 50 years, Darryle and Darlene Branham, and a host of other family and friends. He will truly be missed.
