George L. Ware, Sr., affectionately known as “Big G” or Swampman, passed away peacefully at home, Monday, April 20, 2026 in Cincinnati, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family.
George was born on August 29, 1938 in Pell-city, Alabama, to Lottie Belle and Willie Greene Ware. He attended St. Clair County School and when he moved to Cincinnati, he went to Cincinnati Public Schools. Later on, he attended Scarlett Oaks Vocational to obtain his auto mechanic certificate.
George worked various jobs all of his life, including Shell gas station, Dan’s Auto Repair, Kenwood Chrysler, Tom Kneer Chrysler, Ryder Pie, working security at Brandy’s, Settle Service, Peterman and Mt Healthy Bus Companies. He had a passion for working on cars. He also had a passion for horses. Every year, he would go to the Tennessee Walking Horse Celebration. George loved listening to old school music and smoking a good cigar. He enjoyed his dogs. George also enjoyed being around his family and friends.
George met his wife, Loretta in Evanston. They married on November 17, 1965. To this union, they had six children: Vaughn Bush, Valerie Bush, George L. Ware, Jr., Jacqueline Ware, Constance Ware and Tiffany Marlena Ware.
He leaves to cherish: his brother, William (Dang) Ware and sister-in-law, Jean Ware; 22 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchild-ren, nieces and nephews and friends.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Lottie Belle and Willie Greene Ware; sisters, Sarah Johnson and Charlotte Stuckey; brothers, Paul Ware and Willie Greene (Dang) Ware; and grandson, Jerome Anthony Bush.
