Glaven Pinkney Obituary

Glaven Pinkney was born on July 23, 1936, in Ridgeland, South Carolina, to the late Julia Louise and James Flint, Sr. Glaven was the fourth of eight children born to this union. Glaven accepted Christ at an early age in Ridgeland, South Carolina.

Glaven was joined in Holy Matrimony to her late husband, Roosevelt R. Pinkney on September 22, 1957. This union was blessed with four sons.

Glaven and Roosevelt made their home in Cincinnati, Ohio and made many loving dear friends. Glaven worked at Shuller’s Wigwam Restaurant as a cook until her retirement. She was a former member of Inspirational Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Glaven loved her family. She enjoyed going to church, cooking with family, watching sports and playing cards (spades was her favorite). When her sons were younger, she would always attend all of their sports events, and music engagements. She would always be in attendance for her two twin sons preaching engagements. In her later years, she loved spending quality time with her great grandson Mason Wilkerson. She had a big heart and would give her last to help anyone in need. To know her was to love her and she will truly be missed.

On Friday morning, February 16, 2024, she made her transition to a new life of Peace and Happiness in the Master’s Arms. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roosevelt Pinkney; her son, Johnell Flint; her parents, James and Julia Flint; her siblings, Joseph Lewis Flint, Mary Flint White, Louise Flint, James Flint, Jr., Rosa Belle Rudell Flint and Betty Land of Texas.

Glaven leaves to cherish her memory: three sons, Carmel Pinkney, Cornel Pinkney and Chris Pinkney; her siblings, Andrew Flint (Kathy) of Georgia and Deloris Hardy of Inkster, MI; her daughters-in-law, Bonita Pinkney of Cincinnati, OH and Sherri Flint of Southgate, MI; her grand-children, Janel Ball of Inkster, MI, A’Starr Pinkney of Cincinnati, OH, Ryan Pinkney of Cincinnati, OH, Tyria Wilkerson of Cincinnati, OH, Oriane Flint of Southgate, MI and D’Angelo Pinkney of Cincinnati, OH; and a host of great-grands, nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
