Gloria Janet Golden died on July 22, 2025, in Hospice of Cincinnati after a short illness. Gloria Janet Golden was born on November 8,1946, in Cincinnati, OH, to the late James and Janie Lee Wheeler Golden. Gloria was an excellent student; she graduated from Aiken Senior High School in 1965 and graduated from University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History in 1971. She later completed an accelerated eight-week course to earn a certificate in Secretarial Studies and Office Administration. In 1972, she joined Cincinnati Public Schools as a Senior Typist where she was responsible for processing the unemployment claims, keeping personnel files, typing correspondence, doing payroll and other related clerical duties. Gloria advanced to Administrative Assistant for the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and the Superintendent of Cincinnati Public Schools. After a successful career of more than thirty years, Gloria retired from Cincinnati Public Schools. After retirement, she continued to work at Northern Kentucky University and three different charter schools. Upon her final retirement, she devoted even more time along with her strengths and skills to volunteer in her beloved church, Mt. Zion Church of God, Holiness, Cincinnati, OHIO.
Missionary Gloria was baptized on September 18, 1966, at Mount Zion Church of God Holiness, Dayton, OHIO. She became a willing, dedicated and faithful member. She was obedient to church leadership and worked well with her pastors. Missionary Gloria planned and organized annual Women’s Day and Women’s week activities. She also planned and organized Children’s Weekend, Health Workshops, and District Youth Seminars. She continued to work in her church with the women’s auxiliary and youth departments on the local, district and national levels. Missionary Gloria was an effective planner and organizer of projects. She was motivated and committed to the church she loved. She was a woman of courage, faith and determination. She never wavered in her faith. These qualities were exemplified throughout her illness.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving cousin Charisse “Recie” Carter; longtime devoted friends and colleagues, Major and Winona McNeil; dedicated friend, Barbara A. Gibert; many special Godchildren, whose lives she positively influenced; and a host of other relatives and church family.
Gloria’s beautiful smile, kind heart and compassion will be missed. She was always willing to go the extra mile and follow through. She was a role model and an inspiration to younger women; she was a good friend to all. We all will miss Gloria; we are grateful for the memories we’ve made with her.
