Gregory L. Trammell, Sr. Obituary

Gregory (Greg) Len Trammell, Sr. entered this world on April 9, 1956 in Middletown, Ohio by way of loving parents, Edna Hooks Trammell and Otis Trammell, Sr. He exited this world and made his ascent to the heavenly kingdom on February 13, 2021 at the age of 64.

Greg attended primary and secondary school in Middletown before making the decision to serve his country at the age of 17, thus he enlisted in the Navy. After leaving the military, Greg went into the labor field and held various positions throughout Butler County.

At 18, he met his future wife and the mother of his children, Norma (Grier) Trammell. In the 38 years total as a couple, with 30 of those years spent married, Greg and Norma created and cultivated an immediate family tree that stands so tall and strong even the most powerful of storms can’t knock it down. This mighty tree is made up of five amazing children and eight godsent grandchildren, who know Greg as ‘Pawpaw’.

Greg and Norma would go on to raise their children and grandchildren before parting matrimony in 2012.

He spent his 64 years here continuing his work in the labor industry, working and volunteering at The V.A. Hospital of Cincinnati, dancing and singing for anyone who would pay attention (it was hard not to!) and reading more books than one can count!

Greg will be deeply missed by so many. He left his mark in this world and in various different communities in Southern Ohio, most notably Hamilton and Middletown. If you are from either of those cities and didn’t know him, well…you actually still probably did, possibly by one of his aliases. And if we went down the list of those nicknames and you say you still never knew him…we can bet you someone in your family did!

On February 13, 2021, Greg joined in paradise, his father and mother, Otis Sr. and Edna Trammell; two brothers, Otis Trammell II and Charles (Boo) Simmons; sister-in-law, Brenda Simmons; and his niece, Nicole (Nikki) Simmons.

He leaves behind: his five children, Tiffany (Trammell) Barrick, Tarriano (TJ) Trammell, Keosha Trammell, Gregory (Greg) Trammell II and Clarissa (Clara) Trammell; their mother (ex spouse), Norma Trammell; eight grandchildren, Ditanyin Trammell, Embry Trammell, Tiya Trammell, Kassiah Trammell, Zavey’ai Reed, Keaira Trammell, Zaiden Warren and Zarian Warren; one sister and brother-in-law, Eleanore and Joe Hammonds; a host of nieces and nephews and numerous others, including cousins, friends and family that he would refer to as “sister”, “brother”, “nephew” or “niece” because he chose them as such, and they chose him in return!

No being is perfect, thus no being leaves this world with an unblemished record of life. However, the one thing that will keep Greg alive in all of our hearts is the core goals of what was behind most everything he did. He had a determination to be free, to spread joy, to love, to support and to live as happy of a life as possible on his journey through this world he leaves us all in. Remembering Greg’s core goals, is the best gift he could have ever left us all with!
