Gregory T. Calloway Obituary

Gregory T. Calloway, born on August 7, 1954 to William J. Calloway and Doris E. Calloway (Singleton). He transitioned from this life on July 27, 2022 at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Greg grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he attended Douglass Elementary, Sawyer Junior High and went on to graduate from Woodward High School in 1972. He furthered his education at Bowling Green State University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism with a minor in Business in 1976. He was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church, now Church of the Resurrection.

After graduation, Greg was employed as a licensed insurance agent with various companies. After retirement in 2021, he returned to work full-time at Cincinnati Bell (Alta-fiber). He also drove for Lyft as part-time employment.

Greg was a faithful and loving husband to his late wife, Madonna for 29 years, He was a wonderful and devoted father to their son Gennaro. Greg was a great brother and brother-in-law. He was also an amazing and fun uncle to his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

As a young child he was very interested in the weather and became known as “The Weatherman” in the community. Greg learned to read at an early age and loved math. He maintained his love and interest for the weather even through adulthood so much so, he hosted annual competitions on who could predict the first snow of the year. He would even pay the winner $50.

Greg had a passion for cooking and making tasty desserts for every occasion. His apple-peach cobblers and German chocolate were amongst his most popular. He loved to offer up mincemeat pie, which was one of his favorites, just like his mother. Greg loved to travel, spend time with family and to celebrate holidays, the traditional way. He also loved sports, music and dancing. He could even hold a note or two with his smooth tenor voice. Greg always placed in the top three at our Singleton/Phoenix Reunion Bake Off every year. He was always pleased when he took first place. He also shared this day in history moments, even sharing family history events no one else knew. Greg had the gift of making everyone feel special, seen, heard and included. He remembered birthdays and would also call just to check on you.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Madonna Calloway, William J. Calloway & Doris E. Calloway (Singleton), brother; William "Billy" J. Calloway, nephews Brandon M. Calloway and LaRon Lovett.

Greg leaves to cherish his memory his son, Gennaro A. Calloway, sisters Tonda Lyons and Deloris Henry, Sharon Pittard (significant other), his nieces & nephews, cousins and a host of other loved ones and friends.
