Ilene Agatha Sibley Obituary

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Ms. Ilene Agatha Sibley, who peacefully departed this life at the age of 71. Ilene was born on January 15, 1954, in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, to her loving parents, Aaron and Emily Smith.

In 1978, Ilene bravely made the journey from Jamaica to the United States, where she built a beautiful life for herself and her family. She dedicated over 30 years of faithful service to Bakery Crafts, beginning as a printer and retiring as a respected supervisor and trainer. Throughout her career, she was known for her dedication, kindness, and leadership.

Ilene was married to Anthony Sibley, and from their union came two cherished children: Wayne and Kamilia Sibley. Although their marriage later came to an end, Ilene and Anthony remained close friends, maintaining a strong and supportive bond as they lovingly raised their children together.

Ilene’s greatest joy came from her family, especially her beloved grandchildren: Kevin Johnson, Britney Sibley, Kahlaila-Jul’et Stallworth, and Cameron Sibley. In her retirement, she dedicated her time to them — taking them to school, bringing them to church, and creating countless treasured memories filled with love and guidance.

She was also a devoted sister to her surviving siblings: Cleveland Smith, Hira Smith, and Sylvia Gonzales. Family was always at the heart of her life, and she found great happiness traveling often to Jamaica, New York, Florida, and Georgia to spend time with her loved ones.

Ilene carried herself with grace, elegance, and a keen sense of fashion. As a model with Welman’s Modeling Agency, she appeared in Macy’s catalogs, showcasing her natural beauty and vibrant personality. She truly embodied the spirit of a fashionista and enjoyed every opportunity to shop and express her unique style.

Beyond her love for fashion, Ilene had a gifted hand for sewing and crocheting. She poured her heart into creating beautiful handmade items, including dresses, curtains, placemats, sweaters, and socks. Nothing brought her more joy than making special things for others. Whether for family, friends, or neighbors, Ilene’s creations were an expression of her love, care, and generosity.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Ilene was a lifelong Christian who found comfort and strength in her favorite scripture, Psalm 23. She loved gospel music, especially the hymn “Yes Jesus Loves Me,” and often prayed The Lord’s Prayer, finding peace in its familiar words.

While we grieve her passing, we take comfort knowing that Ilene has now been reunited in eternal rest with her parents, Aaron and Emily, her four brothers: Ronnie, Winston, John, and Leason, and her beloved sister, Windell Smith-Murphy, with whom she will be laid to rest.

Ilene’s kind heart, radiant smile, and steadfast faith left a lasting impact on all who knew her. We rejoice in the beautiful life she lived and find peace knowing she now rests in the loving arms of the Lord.

"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." – Psalm 23:6

She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
