Inell Fountain Obituary

Our mother, Inell Fountain was born in Uniontown, Alabama on February 7, 1936. Her family migrated to Middletown in 1951, where she graduated from Middletown High School in 1954. She married Willie Fountain on January 8, 1955.

She was a long-time member of New Era Baptist Church and one of the missionary ladies who ministered to the sick and shut-in members. In her later years, she was considered one of the “Mothers” of the church. Mama worked at Middletown Regional Hospital for 40 years. Throughout that time, she performed several jobs in the Nutrition Department from working in its kitchen to being the cashier at the hospital’s cafeteria.

Mama was a devoted member of the Lily of the Valley Chapter #55, Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliated. She was looked upon with great esteem as someone faithful and knowledgeable. She went to meetings regularly until her health failed. Even then she found ways to support the chapter.

A very skillful bowler, Mama and Daddy participated in several leagues and tournaments throughout Middletown and Ohio. Her bowling was good, but her cooking was even better. Sunday dinner at Inell’s house was a culinary feast. Everyone enjoyed her cooking and her baked goods. It indeed was a treat to get a cake, or some other dessert made by our Mama.

Our beloved mother passed away peacefully on February 21, 2024. She is survived by: three daughters, Patricia Fountain (Claude Malcolm), Linda Howard and Jacqueline Fountain; her sister, Elizabeth Thomas; her brother, Albert Johnson; four grand-children, Brandi (Courtney) Day, Ashlei (Luddie) Lang, Olivia Malcolm and Jared (Britney) Malcolm; two special nieces, Elaine Mattox and Lorena Bryant; and 11 great-grandchildren, Ayrianna, Izaiah, Kaylie, Aaliyah, Jasmyn, Sanai, Laila, Elijah, Xavier, Charles III and Jeremai. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Clara Johnson; her beloved husband, Willie; brothers, Eddie, James and L.C.; and one great-grandchild, Jared Jr.

Our mother loved others as deeply as she was loved by them. If you had the privilege of meeting or knowing our mother, you know she was a kind and gracious woman. Her presence, love and calming demeanor will truly be missed. We pray that you cherish her memory and hold on to the Godly love she extended to you.
