Ira Jerome (Jerry) Carmichael was born on March 3, 1952 in Middletown, Ohio to Eva Lee (Hughley.) and the Rev. Samuel Baldwin. He was educated in the Middletown City School System, graduating from Middletown High School in 1970. He married Ola Carmichael on May 11, 2005; they were married for 19 years.
He was baptized at the age of seven at the New Era Baptist Church on Young St. in Middletown, Ohio. Jerry sung in the Sunbeam Children’s Choir and the Junior Choir. He was also a boy scout. After high school graduation, he worked at the Armco Steel Corporation for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a brother of the Elks. He loves his cigars, and he will always be remembered for his infectious laugh. Being a good friend signified his entire personality.
Jerry was called to his eternal rest on Sunday, November 10, 2024, he was at home surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and sister Bertina Bryant.
Jerry leaves to cherish his memory a loving and dedicated wife, Ola Carmichael, his sister, Danita Jo Carmichael Hart of Middletown, Ohio; four children Ira Jerome Carmichael, and Robert Carmichael, both of Middletown, William “Rocky” Darryl Carmichael, Auburn, Washington ; and daughter Treeon Lynnette Carmichael, also of Auburn, Washington ; three grandchildren; Jouree L. Cain, Jakhi F.A. Cain, and Kelcey Alexis Brown; a niece, Aliya Nicole Hart; great-niece Kayla Michelle Hart; and great-nephews, Mark Anthony Hoard and D’Andre Anthony Hoard; all of Middletown, Ohio, and a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends. Jerry is also survived by his five stepchildren and a lifelong friend, Craig Johnson.
