James C. Smith

James Clinton Smith was born on February 20, 1949, in Tallassee, Alabama to the late Wesley and Julia Smith. He was the fifth oldest of 15 siblings. He departed this life on September 9, 2023, after succumbing to cancer. Up until his last days, he managed to make others laugh. He was known by many as a jokester. James attended Wall Street High School before relocating to Cincinnati, Ohio and resided in Lincoln Heights.

He was an amazing cook and was known for cooking a delicious omelet. James loved to eat him some baked chicken and rice; it was his favorite dish. He often bragged about his smooth jet black curly hair. As a joke, his daughter, Evita would say he favored Louis Farrakhan. James was great at doing impersonations of celebrities. You would think you were listening to Bill Cosby and Ray Charles themselves. James was known to be well versed when it came to the bible. He knew it word for word and would often quote Bible scriptures.

James was a father of 15. It amazed many that he knew the birthdates of each one of them: Dionne Peprah of Georgia, Delrico Bray, Alicia Ewing, Tonya Lowry Byrd (Eddie), Alonzo Lowery, James Chandler, Tracy Chandler, Natasha Chandler Moore (Timothy), Montez Parrot, all of Ohio, Christopher Cunningham, James Riley, Tamika Riley, Tanika Riley, Troy Montgomery of Alabama and Evita Potts (Mitchell) of California.

He leaves not to mourn his death, but to rejoice in his memory: his siblings, Wesley Smith, Gary Smith (LaVerne), Roger Smith, Elaine Smith, Stanley Smith, Ricky Smith, Maenette Smith and Deborah Smith, all of Ohio, Carolyn Smith of Georgia, Charles Smith and Jill Smith Rivers of Alabama; and his siblings that preceded him in death, Rebecca Smith Hardnett, Virginia Burton and Terrie Ann Smith Hucherson.
