James L. Barnett, affectionately known as J.B., was born August 1, 1935, in Montgomery, Alabama, and passed away May 6, 2026, at the age of 90. He made his home in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he built a life rooted in service, hard work, and devotion to family. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War era, achieving the rank of sergeant and receiving an honorable discharge. James worked as a mail sorter with the U.S. Post Office in Cincinnati, faithfully serving his community throughout his career. As his health declined with age, he relocated to Florida in his later years to be with his daughter and son-in-law Most recently, James was a short-term resident of Alwyn C. Cashe State Veterans Nursing Home, Lake Baldwin, Florida. James leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Bobbie Jo, his daughter, Shanda (Norman); his granddaughter and great-grandchild; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
