Janis, affectionately known as “Jan”, was born to the late Eugene Thompson and Lillie B. Hall-Cook on July 8, 1957. Jan was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She accepted Christ at a very young age. She attended Cincinnati Public Schools throughout her elementary, junior high and high school years. She graduated from Mt. Healthy High School in 1975. Jan was a nurse’s aide and was employed at various nursing home facilities until her brief illness and subsequent death. She loved her job of caring for others. She was preceded in death, not only by her parents, but two siblings: Veronica Littlejohn and Angela Tolbert; best friend, Sandra Lucas; godmother, Azilee Wise; and twin granddaughters: Joy and Journey Johnson.
Jan was full of life and enjoyed every moment of it. She enjoyed being around her family and friends. Those who loved her enjoyed her presence as well. Jan loved to laugh and joke around with her family and friends. She was a very comical, witty and beautiful woman. She loved and adored her children and grandchildren. Jan was passionate about cooking, and she was great at it. She enjoyed making meals
for her family. Jan had a favorite saying, “Ya Look Good!”. Many times, the person on the receiving end of that statement was not sure whether she was joking or serious.
Jan unexpectedly fell severely ill on Saturday, September 2, 2023. On Monday, September 11, 2023, our beloved Janis made a peaceful transition from this earthly life to her heavenly mansion in God’s Kingdom; there she will no longer experience any more pain or sorrow.
She leaves to celebrate her life and rejoice in fond memories: five children: Gregory Williams, Jr., Larisa (John) Johnson, Wiley Foster, Jr., Dante Harmon, and Pretrice Martin; sixteen grandchildren: Kierra, BreAsia, ZaKyah, ZaKira, Travion, Ivory, MarQuan, Saimerej, Jeremias, Macarius, Jace, Aiden, Aidyn, Mercies, Ryland and Ivee; a god-daughter, Monika Lucas; four brothers: Willie Hall, Donald Hall, Elmer Hall and Darren Cook; one sister, Diana Powell; three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
