Jeffery Douglas Bell, Sr. Obituary

Jeffery Douglas Bell, Sr. was a one-of-a-kind soul whose presence filled every space with life, laughter and love. He was a devoted father, brother, grandfather and friend, and a man whose legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.

Jeffery was preceded in death by his parents, Florene Bell (Hayes) and Thomas Bell, Sr., whom he loved deeply and honored throughout his life. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Christine Bell (Hunter). In a profound and heartbreaking loss, he was further preceded in death by his nephews, Nelson Ramsey, Danielle Carr and Michael Carr, who passed just one week after his own transition.

Jeffery grew up in Brick City, Winton Terrace, a neighborhood that shaped who he was and where he built lifelong friendships that felt more like family. He was well known and well loved throughout the community. Jeffery was quite popular in his neighborhood and everyone had a story to tell — events he was involved in, memories he helped create and moments where his energy brought people together. The neighborhood truly felt his presence.

Affectionately known as “J to the B”, a name he proudly gave himself, Jeffery was the hype of the party, a believer in non-judgment and an overall great person. He loved God, deeply respected and loved his parents and cherished most of all his family and children. His spirit was magnetic — full of joy, humor, confidence and authenticity. Jeffery lived life unapologetically and encouraged others to do the same.

Jeffery leaves behind his loving siblings: Ella Jean (Norris), Sandra (St. John), Thomas Bell, Jr. (Brenda), Cynthia Bell and Anthony Bell (Brittany).

He also leaves behind his cherished children: Crystal Neacole, La’Vada Dorine (Reni), Jeffery Douglas Bell, Jr., Brandon Allen, Bryon Douglas and Brianna Nichole.

Jeffery was a proud and devoted grandfather to Re’Ana, Mekel, Peytience “Pey Pey”, Chrislyn, Lucas “Boi”, Amaya, Kylah “Toot Toot”, Kyrie, Zhavia, Bryelle, Zayon, Elani, Chi’lay and Zuri; and a loving great-grandfather to Ry’Mani and Rhemi, who brought him immense joy.

He also leaves behind the long-term love of his life, Dixie Wood, with whom he shared more than a lifetime of love, memories and experiences. Together they built a beau-tiful extended family, including three children and six grand-children, and a bond that time could never break.

Jeffery is further survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and lifelong friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Jeffery Douglas Bell, Sr. was truly one of a kind — always a step above magnificent. His life was full, his love was real and his legacy will continue to shine through all who were blessed to know him. He will be forever remembered, forever celebrated and forever loved.
