Jerome Hunter was born August 5th, 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of the late William Hunter and Elizabeth Robinson. He accepted Christ at an early age and received his wings on July 25th, 2022.
Baby Rome as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He always strived to be the best at whatever he did, was very competitive and always said “once you decide to do something, finish it to the end.” He was a man of many talents; whose catch phrase was “Don’t believe me just watch”. He was self taught on everything he did and gifted in many areas; from sports to electronics. He loved tennis, skiing, fishing, chess and bowling (known for his “pose”). He could put a computer together from scratch and have 3 monitors going at one time back in the 80’s. He could have his computer from home call his future Mrs. In the 90’s before this technology was perfected and popularized. He was often called upon by family and friends to help with their computers as well. He never met a stranger. He could make you laugh even when you didn’t want to. Another talent that got him special notoriety in the news paper was riding his dog major on his motorcycle; a sight to be seen for sure!
At one point Jerome had to stop going to school due to starting his family early, but despite his situation was determined to earn his high school diploma. While working during the day, he went to Hughes Evening High School and graduated June 8th, 1969. He then furthered his education by attending The University of Cincinnati and taking computer courses, receiving professional certification on the internet, computer hardware and software programs. In addition he was known for occasionally reading up on things at home just to stay in the know; never forgetting to brag about getting a 100% on the math test that he took with his daughter Victoria in her 6th grade class.
Jerome met the love of his life Shana in 1991. They were married November 30th, 1996. They were always doing things together; tennis, bowling, skydiving, skiing, zip lining and traveling. They made sure they had date night every week. When he wasn’t being a supportive husband he was a great support to his family being there for whatever he could whenever he could.
Jerome was employed by Cincinnati Milling Company which was later named Cincinnati Milacron. He started employment at General Electric on September 3rd, 1968 where he was employed until he was forced to retire on Feb 1, 2022 (53 years) due to his decline in health.
He leaves to cherish his true love and wife of 25 almost 26 years, Shana Williams Hunter; Daughter’s: Annett Lewis, Christine Irby, Roderica and Victoria Williams. Son’s: Jerome, Marto and Jay Hunter. 16 grandchildren (with 4 being near and dear to his heart: Marto Hunter Jr., Jayden Davis, Jayson and Jeremiah Williams), 10 great-grandchildren, sister’s: Charlette, Shelia, and Elaine Hunter. Brother’s: William (Robin), Gregory (Louvonne) and Mark Hunter, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. With special love and consideration to nephew’s and niece: Michael Bannister Sr., Darnell and Delvon Hunter, brother and sister: Veronica Scott and Christopher Williams, and cousin: Debbie Brazile. He was preceded in death by brother’s Michael and Ronald Hunter.
He kept the faith, fought a good fight and finished his course.
