Jerry J. Crumpton was born on April 25, 1952, in Weptumka, Alabama, to the late Elizabeth Crumpton and L.J. Townsend. He was raised by his maternal grand- parents, Chester and Leola Crumpton whom he dearly loved. Jerry was the 4th child and youngest of the family. He departed this earthly life on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at his Cincinnati home, surrounded by loved ones.
He took hope in faith and accepted Christ as his Savior. He was a faithful member of New Emmanuel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Hopper for the past three years, serving as not only the welcome greeter, but as “security” for the church members as well.
Jerry Crumpton worked at R.A. Miller Construction Company as a construction worker/laborer for 22 years, until retirement. He was an avid member of the Labor Union as well. Jerry LOVED Michael Jackson, dancing (that is how he met Barbara, the love of his life), travel- ing, gardening, yard work, Kobe Bryant (he even named his dog after him), FISHING and Alabama football. Jerry was always the life of the party, as well as the comedian at all family events and all events in general! He was always being silly and making people laugh. He will be greatly missed by everyone, near and far.
Jerry married Linda Joyce in Alabama and to this union, a son was born, Jammie Crumpton and he acquired a stepson, William Crumpton. He met his fiancé, Barbara Nelloms 22 years ago and has been blessed with his soulmate ever since. Together they raised their grand- daughter, Jaymya Mitchem.
Jerry is preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother, birth father and his sister, Ellen Jean Maddox.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his fiancé and soulmate, Barbara Nelloms; sons, Jammie and William Crumpton; four grandchildren and one great-grandson; sister, Barbara Brooks (Eugene) and brother, Bobby Crumpton (Bernice), both of Cincinnati, Ohio; uncle, Clinton Crumpton (Marilyn) of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.
