Joe D. Graves was born in Laurel, Mississippi on July 12, 1926 to the late Ancie Bell (Musgrove) Graves and John Graves.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, seeing battle. After the war, he followed his brother to Cincinnati, Ohio where he met his future wife, Lilla Mae (Rutland). He and Lilla Mae started an adventure together, travel, parties with friends and family. They always had a great time enjoying life and each other until her passing in November of 2018.
Joe retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad and relaxed in his home in Evanston.
Joe leaves to cherish his memory: Rochelle Graves (niece), Joedale Moffett (nephew) of Atlanta, Georgia and family friend, Greg Molden of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Lilla Mae (Rutland); brothers, Leon and George; and sisters, Mamie (Moffett) and Veloa Graves.
