John D. McKitric Obituary

John Daniel McKitric was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late John Isaac McKitric and Deolia (Calamese) McKitric on April 8, 1940.  He departed this life on March 14, 2019.  Growing up in Walnut Hills, John was educated in the Cincinnati Public School System graduating in 1959 from Central High School.

The U.S. Army drafted him in 1961, where he served for two years.  And he had the stories to prove it.

John accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church in Cincinnati, Ohio.  He later joined Ebenezer Baptist Church serving as treasurer for several years and on August 26, 2001 was ordained as a Deacon serving until the time of his death.  After retiring from the Ford Motor Company, John enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, dining out and going to the movies.

John created his own ministry of passing out slips of paper with scriptures written on them to anyone who would accept them.  He also just left them around for people to find and hopefully to their Bible and read.  It was his way of sharing Christ Jesus with others.

He went out of his way to help those in need.  He was a voluntary caregiver.  If someone he knew was in need of transportation to the doctor, grocery, a meal brought in or just to keep them company… John was there for them.

He loved people and enjoyed being part of a happy gathering where he could regale folks with “unbelievable” tales.  His laughter was unique and contagious.

John married Karen Allen McKitric on July 8, 1989.  A second marriage for both presented him with a new family of four sons.  He poured his knowledge and positive outlook into them as if they were his own.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Karen, four sons Walter “Chip” (Anita) Allen, Kennen (Jacqueline) Allen, Christopher (Junie) Allen, Charles (Sidra) Allen and daughter-in-law Andrea Allen.  Grandchildren:  Kennen Allen II, Michelle (Tualon) Russell, Sherrelle (Nadir) Abdul-Sami, Christopher Jr. “CJ”, Amaani, Tristan, Bryce, Corry, Allie, Arabelle and Aubree Allen, great-grandson Tualon Jr. “TJ” Russell and one on the way!  An only child John has an abundance of loving cousins to remember happy times with him.  He was a man who loved life and loved the Lord.  His favorite hymn was “Oh, How I Love Jesus”.  Now he can sing to his heart’s content, even off key.
