John D. Waters

John D. Waters, affectionately known as “Nic and Rev” was born in Hawkinsville, Georgia on February 23, 1942 to the late John David Waters and Viola Carter Waters. He was the fifth child of nine siblings. He was called home on May 28, 2026. Although he was born and raised in Georgia, in 1962 he migrated with his family to Cincinnati, Ohio.

Despite having only an eighth grade education, he proved with hard work, faith, perseverance and dedication, he became the Lead Constructor for several Construction companies. He began his career employed at Durowall Construction Company, where he worked tirelessly for many years. Later, he continued his career with Trimble Construction Company and TWC Foundation, where he remained a valued employee until his retirement. His commitment to excellence, leadership and years of dedicated service left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of working with him.

John David Waters deeply loved his family and cherished every moment spent with them. He was a devoted father to Teressa, Betty, Andrew and Malessie; teaching each of them the value of hard work, dedication and perseverance through both his words and example. He prided himself on being on ttime.

John found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including fishing, playing cards, telling and hearing jokes and riding his bike. He especially treasured the time he spent with his son, Andrew flying drones and model airplanes. He basked in the accomplishments of his grandchildren and he was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals, Reds and Detroit Lions teams.

In the late 1960’s under the leadership of Bishop Mary Bridges, John accepted Christ into his life and he has been running for Jesus ever since. He later began attending Mission House of Prayer in the early 1970’s and in April of 1995 until 1998, John Waters faithfully served as the Elder and Founder of Latter Rain Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2011, until his time of departure, he became a devoted member of True Holiness Covenant of Peace Assemblies-Hamilton East under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Alvin Rozier serving as the Chairman of Deacon and Trustee Board, Sunday School Teacher and on the Financial Board.

John D. Waters was preceded in death by his loving parents, John David and Viola Carter Waters; four siblings, James (Skit) Clark (Doris), John Henry Clark (Mary), Cora Lee Clark Lennon (Cicero) and James Thompson (Earnestine); daughter, Betty Joyce Johnson; and granddaughter, Clarissa Johnson.

His legacy and memory will be carried on by: children, Teressa Dailey (Michael), Andrew (Angelita) and Malessie; siblings, Thelma Waters Bryant (the late William Bryant), Eddie Charles Clark (Alesha), John Henry Jelks (Fannie Mae) and James Pitts (Gail); 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

John D. Waters was treasured by all and loved by many. He will be remembered as a charismatic, hard working man of God. His love, guidance and sense of humor will forever remain in the hearts of his family and all who knew him. To God be the Glory.
