Johnathan Luther Nixon Obituary

Johnathan Luther Nixon Sr., was born on August 27, 1964 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Willie Henry Sr. and Willa Mae Nixon. He was the cherished youngest of 10 siblings.  He was known and beloved by so many, especially his children, the late Johnathan Jr., Cameron and Mariah Nixon.

On January 10, 2022, he was called to his Heavenly Home.  However, he was never far from the Lord, having attended church from birth with his mother, Willa Mae. Understanding we have to accept the Lord for ourselves, he received Christ as an adult and was always willing to “discuss” the Bible at length with you.

A 1983 graduate of Princeton High School in Sharonville, Ohio, he was a noted member of the Vikings football team and played many championship seasons with them.  Upon graduation, he was awarded a football scholarship and attended the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio.

He stayed at the University for one year before he proudly entered the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged after his four-year term of service was completed. He received many awards and commendations that noted his “enthusiasm, professionalism and his desire to excel.”  After leaving the service, he traveled extensively and lived in Los Angles, California before returning home to Cincinnati, where in 1991, he married Robin Campbell.  He was employed as a long-distance truck driver, and often called home to speak to different family members while on the road.

With his outgoing personality, Johnny seemed larger than life and never met a person he didn’t befriend.  He loved to fish and spent much time pursuing his passion with his sons, brothers and friends. He also loved to cook and made the best roast turkey known to man.  His many storage units, (and there are many) are a testimony to his love of antiques and his business expertise and knowledge. He was so funny and often told jokes about different family members.

His memory will be cherished forever. He leaves his children, the late Johnathan Jr., Cameron and Mariah.  His brothers and sisters, Reginald Bruce (Connie), the late Willie Henry, Jr., (Annie Ruth), Anthony Sinclair, Allen Keith (Mary), Devore Mae, Ronnie (Gwendolyn), Yolanda Denise, Matthew Bernard and Doris Anita. Also included among his many loved ones is a vast host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
