Joseph A. Reid, Sr. Obituary

Joseph Arthur Reid, Sr. was born March 16, 1939 to Arthur and Emma Reid (Waller) in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was one of 10 children born to this union. Joseph’s education was centered on his family’s Catholic faith. After attending St. Anthony Elementary in the West End, he later graduated from Elder High School in Price Hill in 1958. After graduating, he pursued his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati.

He worked at A.M. Kinney as an Electrical Engineer for 36 years. Although he was very analytical, he loved being outdoors in nature. He would take long walks around the neighborhood and take note of the changes within his community. He always joked that if the Priest at Elder High had not encouraged him to become an Engineer due to his excellent math skills that he would have preferred to be a Forest Ranger. He loved to work crossword puzzles and quip-to-grams.

On August 26, 1954, he was united in matrimony to Dorothy Pearl Parker. They were blessed with three children. After Dorothy’s untimely death, he continued to raise his children as a single father and made sure that they all received a quality education. He united in matrimony with Lottie Jenkins on June 29, 1985.

He exchanged his earthly robe for his heavenly wings on Thursday, June 23, 2022. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Reid; mother, Emma Reid; sisters, Bernice Farmer and Charlene Johnson; brothers, Arthur Reid, Lawrence Reid and Anthony Reid; son, Joseph Reid, Jr.; and daughter, Nichole Reid.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 37 years, Lottie (Jenkins) Reid; his daughter, Deneen Bradley (DonDiego); stepdaughter, Ingrid Davenport; two brothers, Robert Reid and Giovanni Reid; three sisters, Dolores Reid, Minnie Patricia Youngblood and Mary Frances Cantrell; six grandchildren, Tasha Nichols (Victor), Michael Reid, Mauria Miller, Derrick Carter, Nico Carter and Noah Johnson; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
