"THANK YOU LORD FOR TAKING MY HAND”
God, in his “devine wisdom and knowing all” saw that Joseph was tired and ready to reach out for God’s hand. In the present of his wife Lillian, Joe closed his eyes and was in the hands of the Lord within 5 minutes of closing his eyes. On November 22, 2020 at 1:18pm at Hospice of Cincinnati.
He was the only child of Benjamin H. Mullins, Jr. & Elizabeth(McClellan)Mullins who preceded him in death.
Joseph first confessed Christ as a teenager joining Peace Baptist Church Cincinnati, Ohio, with his grandmother, Hattie McClellan. Joe always had a contagious smile, and a personality that would cheer up anyone. He was strong, independent and confident in things he wanted to accomplished. If he was displeased with anything or anyone it did not show on the surface. He graduated from Central Vocational High School in 1963, when he immediately joined the Air Force. He also attended Indian Tech College for a few years.
Joe started his working career for Penn Central Railroad as a brakeman. He attended night school to receive his apprenticeship license in Reinforce concrete. You may have seen him working on parts of I-75 in the early 70’s.
Sometimes, life has many stumbling blocks(Jer.6:21). It’s all in how you handle the stumbling blocks. Yes, Joe tried to by-pass God’s way, and do things his way!!!!! But, God! Has the final word (Psalm 77:2-4). After years of illness, and closing Jesus out of his life, Joe finally confessed his sins (wrong actions/and or thoughts). Jesus is forgiving when one of his servant recognize they have been fighting against Him for a long time (I John 1:9).
In 1969, Joe met his wife, Lillian (Merriweather), were married in 1971. Lillian, was his devoted companion for 51 years. To this union one daughter was born, Betty E. Rouse(James) of Greensboro, NC. Joe’s leave to mourn a step- son Antonio M Mullins(Karon) of Cincinnati, three grandchildren, Tyrone E. Mullins(Cincinnati); Courtnee M, and Morgan M Rouse(Greensboro, NC.), one aunt Alma Holt(Cincinnati), host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Today Joe’s journey has ended on this earth
But his eternal journey has just began with Christ.
God knew when this time would come,
So He (God) reached out his hand.
Opening the gates of Heaven, letting Joe, know he is leaving this life behind for a better life.
All his fears, troubles, and sorrows are forgiven because he trusted God to lead him.
Joe, you will be missed by those who loved you. So, goodnight, rest the Lord has willed it. One day I will see you again.
May God keep us together in spirit until I see you somewhere around God’s throne.
Lillian Mullins
