It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Kamyia Fletcher, on November 13, 2024, at the age of 29. She was a cherished daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend, whose life brought love, laughter, and light to all who knew her.
Born on May 15, 1995, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kamyia grew up with a fierce sense of curiosity, an open heart, and a passion for art, books, traveling, and service. She was a person of deep integrity and kindness, always willing to offer a helping hand or a listening ear. Kamyia was passionate about her education and graduated from Mount Notre Dame High School, Wittenberg University, and Miami University, where she received her Master’s degree in education. Whether through her career as a teacher, her dedication to children and animals, or simply her warm, loving presence, she touched the lives of many and made the world a better place.
Kamyia confessed early her love of God. Though she did not have children of her own, Kamyia shared a deep and enduring love with her family, students, and friends. She was the kind of person who offered her full support to everyone around her and was a source of strength, wisdom, and joy for those who knew
her best. Her love was immeasurable, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Kamyia is survived by: her parents, Malaika and Maurice Huey, Alan Fletcher; her siblings, Lyndsay, Kyndal, Nikolas and Maurice Jr.; her grandparents, Connie and Willie Holsey, Elijah and Paula Rudolph, and Theresa Huey; her aunts, Aisha Nurredin (Terry) and Pat Smith (Ron); uncles, Ayinde Rudolph (Cherelle) and Tony Huey (Danielle); her cousins, Aleeyah, Tia, Jaylyn, Camille, Kayla, Eli, Deanna, Tiffany, Siri, Troy and Samuel; and other family members. Friends like Adriana Gomez and her sorors from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will remember her for her kindness, compassion, and unshakable spirit.
In honoring her life, we take comfort in the love and light she brought to all of us, and we will continue to carry her memory with us in everything we do.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: Frederick Douglass Elementary School (Cincinnati), C.T. Sewell Elementary School (Las Vegas), The American Stroke Association, Esther Hatton Center for Women, Unite Against Book Bans, or the Animal Humane Society.
We will forever carry you in our hearts, Kamyia. You will never be forgotten.
