KIONTAE DEMAR GILLAM, affectionately known as “Tae” was born on September 5, 1990 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Kevin Thornton and Shelia Gillam. He departed this life on October 31, 2025.
Tae grew up in the Avondale community and was a proud graduate of Cincinnati Public Schools. He worked for the Cincinnati Park Board for five years before follow-ing a new path in healthcare, while pursuing a nursing degree. He was baptized at Hope for You Church and carried his faith throughout his life.
Gifted with a gentle spirit and hardworking hands, Tae was known for many talents. He loved his plants and animals, took pride in cooking and catering for family gatherings, and always showed up when someone needed a skilled pair of hands. He will forever be remembered as an incredible son, brother, uncle, father, nephew, cousin and friend.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Doris Thornton, Terrie Evans and Carl Beavers, as well as his brother, Kevin Gillam.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his father, Kevin Thornton; mother, Shelia Gillam; daughters, Marionna Gillam and Makayla Carter; sons, Robert Carter IV, Giovanni Carter, Kiontae Carter and Robert (Bae); siblings, Shakeisha Gillam, Shalina Gillam, Shameka Douglas, Chericka Gillam, Dominique Adkins, Keyvin Gillam, Tyanna Williams, Keevonton Thornton and Kee Ravon Thornton; as well aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends, who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Tae’s life was filled with love, laughter, kindness and generosity. Though his time with us was far too short, his memory will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared.
