Laverne Cooper Quinn was born on June 21, 1953, to the late Louis James and Verleen Cooper. She departed this life peacefully surrounded by family on January 14th, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Lavene was a mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend who will be missed dearly. She was 71 years old.
A woman of simple joys and deep love, Laverne found happiness in skating, reading books, cooking, and sharing laughter with her beloved sisters. Her warmth and passion for life were felt in every moment spent with her family growing up on Yankee Road. She attended and graduated from Middletown High School in 1972, making lifelong friends and building memories that would always remain with her.
She was a devoted mother to her three children Chauncy, Marcus, and Charleston Quinn, and a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her love for them knew no bounds, and she cherished every opportunity to share in their lives, offering guidance, encouragement, and endless affection.
As the sixth of 10 children, Laverne was raised in a loving and lively household. She grew up surrounded by the close bonds of her siblings and cherishes time spent with them throughout her life. She is preceded in death by her Parents Louis James and Verleen Cooper. Late Husband Freddy Quinn. Siblings; Louis James Jr., Shirley Ann, Barbara Lucille, and Scottie Cooper. Surviving by Bobby Joe, Connie Frazier, Brenda (Thomas) Richardson, Jacquline (Eric) Gresham, Pamela Gann.
Laverne suffered a stroke that changed her life, yet she faced every challenge with resilience and grace. Her strength and determination inspired all who knew her, as did her kind heart and unwavering faith. She spent her later years in a nursing home, where she continued to touch the lives of those around her with her warmth and humor. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and family, which will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
She worked for several agencies that served clients with developmental disabilities and worked in dietary at Barbra Park Nursing Home. Her work had an impact on the lives of those being served, her family, and her community.
