Laverne Denise Everett, a beloved mother, daughter, sister and dedicated community member, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. She was born on May 24, 1956, in Fayette-ville, North Carolina, to her loving parents, Eula Harley, and Roosevelt Everett. Laverne’s life journey began in Metter, Georgia, where she grew up and attended Metter High School. After completing her high school education, she pursued higher education at Armstrong State University in Savannah, Georgia.
In 1978, seeking new opportunities, Laverne relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio. It was there that she commenced a lifelong career at Maple Knoll Village, dedicating herself to serving others. Throughout her career, Laverne’s compassion, kindness and unwavering commitment touched the lives of countless individuals.
Laverne’s life was graced with the joy of motherhood. She was a loving and devoted mother to her daughter, Erica Everett, who tragically preceded her in death, and her son, Deshawntaze Davis. Outside of her professional and maternal roles, Laverne found great joy in various hobbies and activities. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel and explore new places, immersing herself in different cultures. Laverne’s creative side shone through her baking and sewing skills, generously shared with her loved ones.
Deeply rooted in faith, Laverne was a dedicated member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. Her church provided strength, comfort, and community, and her faith was an integral part of her life. Laverne leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience and compassion. She will be deeply missed by her son, Deshawntaze Davis of Cincinnati, OH; her sisters, Sabrina Henry-Montgomery (David) of Atlanta, GA, Edith Everett of Savannah, GA, Gloria Welcome of Cobbtown, GA, Monica Williams of Athens, GA and Terria Phillips of Stockbridge, GA; as well as her brothers, Marvin of Cobbtown, GA and Al Everett of New York. Laverne’s extended family includes numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends, all of whom she cherished dearly.
As we mourn the loss of Laverne Denise Everett, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the everlasting impact she had on those fortunate enough to know her. May her soul find eternal peace, and may her memory continue to inspire and guide us in our own journeys. Rest in peace, dear Laverne. You will forever be remembered and cherished in our hearts.
