Lawrence E. Frye Obituary

Lawrence Ellis Frye, a loving son, brother, uncle and Veteran, departed this life on Monday, November 18, 2019 to be with the Lord. Lawrence was born, the first of fraternal twins, on April 4, 1960 to his parents, Ervin William Frye (deceased) and Annie Ray Frye.

Lawrence graduated from Aiken Technical High School and studied Auto Mechanics in which he excelled. Lawrence obtained certification and graduated 1978.

Shortly after high school, Lawrence enrolled in the military and joined the United States Marine Corps, Motor Pool Division, serving approximately eight years (two tours of duty) to various posts throughout the US and the Far East. Lawrence received an Honorable Discharge and ended his tour of duty in San Diego, CA. He returned home to Cincinnati shortly afterwards.

Lawrence gave his life to Christ in 1975 at Rockdale Baptist Church, Cincinnati, OH. He devoted himself to live his life as best he could according to God’s Word.

Lawrence was a very knowledgeable vehicle mechanic as he worked in automotive related jobs during his life and in later years, worked in the security field.

Lawrence was known to his family as a true, kind, gentle spirit. A consummate gentleman; always opened doors for the ladies and making himself available to help his family in any way. He had a passion for dressing, often dressing “To a T.” He loved to sing, loved to skate, loved to dance and enjoyed listening to music. He also had a love of reading — you could bet he always had a book very close by. Lawrence was also known to be a jokester, as he absolutely loved to engage one by telling “life stories” to evoke laughter.

Lawrence was best known to everyone for his “unmistakable, signature, golden baritone voice.” Something he did not hesitate to turn-up when needing to navigate through the crowds at one of his favorite spots, the Findlay Marketplace, or to impress the ladies!

Lawrence couldn’t express enough how much he loved his family, as he contacted everyone on a regular basis and was always the one to make calls to inquire about holiday plans; especially when grilling bar-b-que was on the menu. His family was his world…

He was preceded in death by his father, Ervin William Frye, his twin brother, Leonard Carl Frye and his maternal grand-mother, Julia Bell Rogers.

He is survived and cherished by his loving mother, Annie Frye; his three sisters, Wanda Coach, Kathy Price and Aisha Shahid (Siddiq); his four brothers, Robert Lett (Janette) of Anderson, IN, Michael Frye (Ivy), Ervin Frye (Sandra) and Steven Frye, all of Cincinnati, OH; many cousins and friends; and a vast number of nieces and nephews, all in which he was very proud and loved each of them as if they were his own.
